Resolution

One of the main advantages of synchrotron based infrared spectromicroscopy is the superior spatial resolution compared to a regular Globar source.

Online again! Comments Off

So, it took us two days to get it done. Impressive, isn’t it? Tonight at around midnight we go beam on the FPA and then shortly after that signal on the 100 micron MCT as well. Of course there is a lot of fine tuning ahead, but that will be nothing compared to this.

The new system looks and more importantly works really nice…

Pictures of the whole process are coming soon.

Shutdown Comments Off

The beamline is off from tomorrow morning. We are going to take the “old” 66v offline (for a while) and clean up the space for the new Vertex 70v. The Bruker engineers are coming next Monday to install the new system which will bring a lot of features to the Mid-IR beamline and our users.

In the near future we will start designing our second branchline to bring the 66v back to the synchrotron and to double our capabilities. We’ll keep you posted.

Hyperion Stage Purge Comments Off

The new purge system is here: we have finished the design and manufacturing of the new purge system that allows fast sample changing and doesn’t interfere with the alignment of the microscope’s apertures. Check out the new addition under the Accessories heading on the Beamline/Equipment page.

Mid-IR becomes a movie star… Comments Off

A science-fiction movie is being shot in CLS for the last few weeks. The Mid-IR beamline actively participated in the process serving as the main character’s office. We are looking forward to the premiere…
