It it very important to remove all gases that have an infrared signature, like water vapour and carbon dioxide from the beampath which is not under vacuum. Any part of the experimental setup where this is the case is purged with dry nitrogen gas. We have designed a compact purge system that allows fast sample changes and does not effect the microscope aperture alignment while moving the sample stage.
